Giver Numbers
Giver numbers are not required to record donations, to be included in reports or to produce statements. However, they can be used to speed up data entry, in place of names in reporting, or in unison with envelope numbers. There are several things to consider in designing a giver number system.
Some options to be consider could include:
-
How will giver numbers be used?
-
Internally, to redact identifying information from reports.
-
Alongside stamped envelopes or booklets.
-
Assigned every year.
-
Assigned and ended as needed; givers keep the same number indefinitely.
-
-
Who gets assigned numbers?
-
Givers with contributions over a certain amount in the last year.
-
People in a particular Family Category or individuals with a particular Status Code.
-
People with attendance in the last two years.
-
-
How are numbers organized?
-
Alphanumerically.
-
Number ranges described by categories such as Members, Visitors, Children, or Groups.
-
Along with envelope numbers and online givers.
-
-
How are numbers assigned?
-
With Auto Assign for all givers at once.
-
With Auto Assign in groups.
-
Individually, with Manage Numbers, as needed.
